More Chapter 4...

Hello, beautiful people! How is everyone this cold, wintery day? It's finally acting like February. It still doesn't look much like February, but at least there's some snow.

My legs are so sore today. I did a kickathon at karate last night. For those of you who don't know, a kickathon is a fundraiser we do to raise money for specific people who need it. This time we were raising money for Kelly Rice, a young woman who was diagnosed with leukemia not too long ago. We did 1000 kicks in an hour and a half. It was hard and exhausting, but if the money we raised was enough for Kelly to get the treatment she need, it was worth it.
Enough about that. In the last (very short) part of my story, Anny asks Shawn what she would have to do. Shawn says she has to get some training so she will be ready to take on Dalen. He also says that she will have to stay at the IFPA compound to be safe.

When we arrived at the IFPA compound 2 hours later, I was surprised to see where we were. My mom had parked in front of my junior high, Treasure Mountain. It was also the school where my mom taught math.
“It’s here?” I asked my mom.
“Yep,” she said, laughing. “Most of the compound is under ground. There’s no way we would be able to hide it otherwise. It stretches from here to the high school.”
That also surprised me. Park City High was down the road, within walking distance of Treasure. It wasn’t that far, but it was kind of a long walk. There was even an elementary school between the two buildings. I hadn’t thought the compound would be that big.
“Come on, lets go inside. We’re supposed to meet Shawn by the front office.” Mom said, getting out of the car.
We walked inside the brick building, carrying one small suitcase each. The school looked the same as it usually did, except now it was summer and there was no one around. The only thing that seemed out of place was Shawn. He was standing outside the main office, leaning against the door.
“Ah, Farrows. You’re here. Follow me, I’ll show you to your room.” He walked down one of the hallways and stopped in front of a door. “Are you ready to enter a whole new world, little Farrow?” He swiped a key card on a scanner at the side of the door and pushed it open. He started down a flight of stairs and I followed with my mom.
“Did you really just call me little Farrow?” I asked him dryly.
“Yes, I did. Hurry up, you’re slow. I want you in your room and settled soon so you can have time for a tour before dinner. This place is big. I wouldn’t want you to get lost,” he said with a smile.

Chapter 4 continued

Hey people! How is everyone? I'm really tired right now. I had a robotics competition all day yesterday. It was exhausting but super fun. I was trying to make our robot, Dave, work. I was unsuccessful. Right when we got one part to work, another part broke. It was extremely frustrating and stressful. By the end of the day, my team was the only team that hadn't won any matches. Oh, well. It was still really fun. The funest part was when I was hanging out with the rest of my team after all the matches except the qualifying rounds were done. We were all yelling and laughing and having a good time. It makes me sad that the season is over.

I was on a break from school this past week. It was great. At the beginning of the week, me and my friend Kimberly had a Lord of the Ring/Star Wars movie marathon at her house because she had never seen any of them before. It took us three days to watch all of them. It was so much fun. The rest of the week I was at robotics, finishing our robot and getting ready for the competition mostly by myself. I had a little help from my team and one of the high school teams, The LadyBots (thats my brother's team).

I now this part of my story is really short, but I thought it was a good place to stop, and it was too long to add to my last post. In the last post, Anny and her mother meet Shawn. Shawn explains that Anny is the only one who can defeat Dalen because her mothers magic isn't strong enough. He tells her that the only way to do it is with ancient magic. Anny agrees to do it.

“Anny, are you sure? If something goes wrong with the spell, you could be killed,” Mom said worriedly.
“I know, but I have to do this, Mom.” Turning back to face Shawn, I asked, “What do I have to do?”
“Come back to the IFPA compound with me. Your training will start tomorrow.”
“Training?” I asked, confused.
“You didn’t think we would just tell you the spell and make you go up against Dalen, did you? You wouldn’t stand a chance. Training will prepare you for what to expect.” He turned to Mom. “She’ll have to stay at the compound. She won’t be safe at home. You can stay with her if you want.”
“How long will she have to stay there?”
“Until she’s ready.”
“I don’t like it, but okay. Let us go home and grab some stuff. We’ll meet you at the
compound in a few hours,” Mom said. We got back in the car and drove home.

Fairy Wars Chapter 4

This is me writing. Yes, I handwrite
everything before I type it.
Hello, my lovelies. How is everyone? I'm glad to hear you're all doing great. I'm going pretty good too. So, I wanted to ask you all something. What do you think of my story? Do you like it? Do you not like it? I want to know what you all think of my writing. I want to make it the best it can be, and I can't do that without the input of the people who have read it. Please take this quick survey. Just so you know, what I have been posting is not the final thing. I'm still working on editing and revising it. If you have any suggestions about something I should do, please tell me. I will think about it and try to incorporate it into to story.
Lets see, what happened last time? I think that was when Anny talks to her mom about Shawn. Anny decides to help IFPA, so she tells her mom that she has to meet with Shawn. Maggie says she knows where Shawn wants to meet. Maggie also says that Anny's brother Kyle doesn't know anything about fairies and she makes Anny promise not to tell him.

Waiting until Saturday to find out more about what I would have to do was torture,
but somehow I survived. Saturday morning arrived and I thought I would explode while waiting. Finally, it was time for me and Mom to see Shawn. We got in Mom’s car and she drove us to a nearby park. Shawn was already there waiting for us. I took a good look at him. It was my first time seeing him in daylight. His curly hair was a sandy color, and his green eyes were even brighter than they had been the night before. He really was handsome.
“Millock,” Mom said, getting out of the car and walking over to Shawn. I followed. “Long time, no see.”
“Well, well. Look who it is. Maggie Farrow.” Mom embraced him. “And Anny. You came. You still couldn’t stay away, could you?” he said, flashing a grin at my.
“Watch it, Millock. That’s my daughter you’re flirting with,” Mom warned him.
“Sorry, Farrow. She looks just like you, and you know I can’t resist a pretty girl,” he said. I blushed and Shawn’s grin widened.
“She’s 15, Shawn. Leave her alone.”
“You know I can’t do that, Maggie,” he said, his grin disappearing. “I know you didn’t want her to get involved, but we need her. She’s our only hope of defeating Dalen.”
“Why am I the only one?” I asked. “ You said you would tell me more about it if I came. And, just so you know, I did not come for you.”
Shawn laughed, then quickly became serious once more. “The only way to defeat
Dalen is a very rare, ancient magic. There is a spell that, when spoken to a fairy, will
destroy them. Unfortunately, the spell will only work when spoken by a human with fairy
blood. That’s why we need you.”
“What about Mom? Why can’t she do it? She has the blood too.”
“She’s too old. Her magic isn’t as strong as yours. Human bondmates and descendants of bondmates aren’t fairies. Your magic weakens as you get older. This spell requires a tremendous amount of strength that your mom doesn’t have,” he explained. “Anny, I wouldn’t be asking you to do this if it wasn’t absolutely necessary.”
“I know, which is why I’ll do it. I can’t let the fairy kingdom get destroyed by a power hungry madman.”

More Chapter 3

Hello, my lovely peoples. How is everyone this fine day? I'm wonderful, thank you for asking. Can anyone believe that it's February? I live in Park City, Utah, in the mountains, where it is usually below freezing until at least the beginning of March. Most years, every thing is covered in snow. But not this year. There's almost no snow this year. It's sad.
In the last part of my story, Anny asks Shawn why she is the only one who can stop Dalen. He says he can't tell her anything until she agrees to do it. Shawn tells her that once she knowns the information that can destroy Dalen, she will be in danger from Dalen's assassins. Shawn gives Anny three days to decide and talk to her mom about talking to Shawn.

The next morning, I knew I had to help IFPA. I couldn’t let the fairy kingdom get destroyed by a madman. On the other hand, I didn’t know what I would have to do, or why I was the only one who could do it. But, even as my mind made up excuses, I knew that my heart was set on helping.
Shawn had told me to talk to my mother. I got out of bed and went to find her. She was in the kitchen.
“Hey, Mom. Can I talk to you about something?” I asked as I sat at the table.
“Good morning, sweetie. Of course you can.” Mom said, putting a plate of french toast on the table in front of me. It looked and smelled really good. French toast was my favorite breakfast, and I usually only got it if I made it myself.
I didn’t know what to say to her. How do you tell your mother that you talked to a strange man in your backyard in the middle of the night? I decided to just go for it, and hope my mom didn’t freak out. She did know Shawn, supposedly.
“I talked to Shawn Millock last night. He told me about the fairies and the war. He wants me to help IFPA end it. He told me to meet him somewhere at 1:30 on Saturday,” I said quickly.
Mom let out a sharp breath, her face pale. “I knew this would happen. Did he tell where to meet him?”
“No. He said you would know.”
“I do.”
There was silence for a few seconds, until I looked up from my breakfast and asked, “Why didn’t you ever tell me about this? About fairies, and the war, and Clara?”
“I didn’t want you to get involved with IFPA. Our work is dangerous. I was trying to keep you safe. I guess it’s too late for that now.” She looked at me seriously. “Kyle doesn’t know anything about this either. You can’t tell him. Promise me you won’t tell anyone,” Mom said.
“I promise.”
“Good. Now, finish eating.”
